Notably, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was just 45, representing one of the lowest cut-offs seen in any AAIP draw in 2025. This provides an opportunity for candidates with specific in-demand professional backgrounds who may not have highly competitive CRS scores. However, the number of invitations issued in this round was minimal, with the official report stating "fewer than 10." This event marks the fifth draw conducted under the Law Enforcement Pathway in 2025.
The Law Enforcement Pathway: Recruiting Talent for Public Safety
The Law Enforcement Pathway was launched by Alberta in June 2024 as a strategic initiative to address growing public safety needs and to assist local police services in meeting their recruitment targets. The pathway is designed to attract experienced law enforcement professionals to fill critical vacancies in the province.
To be eligible, candidates must meet two core requirements:
- First, they must have a full-time job offer from a member of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police;
- Second, they must meet all eligibility criteria for the federal Express Entry system and have an active profile in the pool.
The pathway targets occupations such as:
- Commissioned and non-commissioned police officers and related occupations in public protection services;
- Police investigators and other investigative occupations; and
- Other specialized law enforcement occupations.
Annual Quotas and Competitive Landscape
As of August 27, 2025, the AAIP has released the following data for the Law Enforcement Pathway, highlighting the program's scope and the current level of competition:
- 2025 Nomination Allocation: 20
- Nominations Issued to Date: 11
- Remaining Nominations for 2025: 9
- Candidates in the EOI Pool: 123
This data indicates that while the annual quota for the pathway is very limited, there are currently 123 potential applicants in the candidate pool. This means that despite the low minimum score in the recent draw, competition for the few remaining spots this year will be intense.
In addition to the Law Enforcement Pathway, the Alberta Express Entry stream also features other priority streams, including the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway and the Accelerated Tech Pathway. This demonstrates the province's strategy of leveraging its Provincial Nominee Program to precisely target and attract in-demand talent to support its economic and social development.
