The province of Alberta has once again extended invitations to professional talent in the healthcare sector, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening its medical workforce through immigration. In a new draw held on June 3, 2025, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued invitations to apply for provincial nomination to a targeted group of candidates.
The draw exclusively invited 36 candidates who had a valid job offer from an Alberta employer in the healthcare industry. Receiving a provincial nomination provides these professionals with a significant advantage in their journey to obtaining Canadian permanent residence.
Draw Details and Eligibility Criteria
This latest selection round was conducted through the AAIP’s Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, which operates in alignment with the federal Express Entry system. This marks the sixth draw of its kind this year.
Notably, the minimum required score for a candidate to receive an invitation was only 60. This relatively low threshold indicates that candidates who meet the specific occupational and job offer requirements have a strong chance of being invited.
To be eligible for this pathway, candidates were required to meet a series of conditions:
- Express Entry Profile: Candidates must have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool and be eligible under at least one of the three federal programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST), or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- CRS Score: A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 was required.
- Eligible Occupation and Job Offer: The candidate’s primary occupation in their Express Entry profile must be one of the eligible healthcare professions, and they must hold a genuine, full-time job offer from an Alberta employer.
- Regulatory Requirements: Candidates had to provide proof that they meet the licensing or certification requirements of the appropriate regulatory body for their profession in Alberta.
- Intent to Reside: A clear intention to live and work in Alberta must be demonstrated.
